The hot water stung her legs as Lisette slipped her body slowly into the steaming bath. As the immediate pain subsided she finally began to relax, her back freeing itself of knots she hadn’t even realised were there. It had been a long day, the new shipments had come in, the petty thieves had brought home respectable hauls, and here she sat, at the top of her own little empire, an underworld queen in ways that most of her employees would never even imagine.
She lit her fat newly-smuggled cigar and smiled. The smoke danced slowly around her fingertips.
Life was good.
